Great pub, but lager a bit dodgy
by Nick - Wednesday 9th 2003f July 2003
The Maypole is a top pub. Although it seems small at first, it is actually quite large with its back bar, beer garden and [occasionally open] upstairs seating area. Unlike most Cambridge city centre pubs, it has character, mainly due to the influence of the bar staff, and hasn't been spoilt by over-commercialisation from corporate breweries. Drinkswise, the choice is good. They serve a variety of cocktails and a choice of beers on draught. On the down side, I have experienced stomach cramps and headaches from the lager lately. Perhaps its just a problem with the barrel.
