Not the place to visit.
by Ann & Mike - Tuesday 5th 2003f August 2003
My wife and I are regular visitors to Cambridge. Retired and living only 20 miles away on the Bedfordshire border. The Waterside we remember in another life was always choc-a-bloc with people. On Tuesday 5th August '03 [the hottest day to date] at lunch time it was empty. Other river pubs were full and so was Henry's together with the riverside Cafes. My Wife drinks Coffee. The young lady was all smiles and extremely helpful. I refused the plastic "glass" since we planned to sit outside. We started to walk away - the young lady smiled and said yes, since I obviously was not a hooligan I could enjoy my beer in a glass AND sit outside. Sadly that was when our smiles slipped badly. None of the wooden tables had seen water and soap for many a day. The paving was littered with squashed cigarette ends. Leaves and various forms of rubbished littered the area. Tables should be clean, floors washed. Hosed daily in an outdoor scenario. Worse was to come - we both reported the disgusting state of the toilets. There was apparently a second Female in at the same time as my wife who wondered what state the Kitchins were in? Neither lady discovered that secret. We will not return. Ann & Mike from Out of Town.
