Joanna - I know what you mean about retail staff etc having to cover their emotions for the sake of customer service. However, my experience with this girl was just as off-putting beacuse she actually said the right things, but just without expression. It was a little unusual, as if she were on auto-pilot. I don't even know her, I'm sure she's a lovely girl, I just felt a bit sorry for her actually.
